Grenfell Cloth : ウィキペディア英語版 | Grenfell Cloth Grenfell Cloth is a close-woven cotton twill material used to make outdoor clothing from its creation in 1923. It was named for Sir Wilfred Grenfell, a medical missionary in Newfoundland. He asked for a cloth to be woven to protect himself from the wet and cold weather he encountered in his travels. The clothing was used in many expeditions.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Grenfell for the Mountaineer )〕 The cloth was made from 600 thread-per-inch Egyptian cotton by T.Haythornthwaite & Sons Ltd at Lodge Mill, Burnley, UK. After a spell under Japanese ownership, Grenfell Cloth garments have been manufactured in Britain again since 2002. Now based in London. ==References==
